Scopello is a small hamlet or fishing village in the municipality of Castellammare del Golfo in the province of Trapani in Italy. Scopello consists of a historic "baglio" with restaurants and small shops surrounded by narrow lanes. The village perches on a hillside above the Tonnara di Scopello, offering panoramic views of the rugged coastline and green hillsides.

A car is advised for travelling around. The nearest airports are Palermo or Trapani; each ca 50km away. Car Rental is available from both airports. Walking into Scopello takes about 10-15 minutes from the house. You are not allowed to drive through Scopello Village during the summer months. There is parking available above the village and secure private parking is available on the property.
Local Supermarkets can be found 3 km from the house. Follow the main road below the village of Scopello, at the main junction keep to the left. There are now two supermarkets on the right-hand side of this road. There is plenty of parking available. The local supermarket Mio Mercato is well stocked and there is also a delicatessen supermarket offering fresh meat, cheese etc. but a much more expensive alternative. In between the two supermarkets, there is also a café/bar offering fresh Sicilian specialities, ice cream, ‘tavola calda’ etc. The local supermarket is open every day in the summer months, usually from 8.30 – 14.00 and from 16.00 – 20.00. Opening times may vary in other seasons. There is also a local greengrocer on the left-hand side of the main parking.
There are also other supermarkets, pharmacies and shops in Castellammare, ca 15 min drive from the house.

Most restaurants are open from 6 -7 pm until midnight and child friendly. Many restaurants are closed in the winter season.

Mazzo di Sciacca Beach: walk down the local, private road outside the house, ca 250 metres, down the hill. You can also drive, however in the summer months, when busy, you may risk parking (and paying) for a space up the valley, so it makes better sense to walk. In the summer months, it costs 5 EUR for a full day to park. There are toilet facilities and a small kiosk on the beach selling paninis, ice cream, coffee and soft drinks etc. You can rent chairs and parasols (20 EUR for two chairs and a parasol) and there are also small pedal boats with slides for rent at 12 EUR per hour.

Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve
Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve -Turn right at the main road. The entrance to the Nature reserve is less than 5 minutes drive and you can see the entrance/parking across the valley.
Tonnara di Scopello
Tonnara di Scopello – the famous medieval tuna fishery with the ‘faraglioni ’, rocks, is located on the left hand side on the main road, a couple of minutes drive from the house. The fishery is today a boutique hotel, restaurant and a small museum. It is possible to visit and use the beach but you will have to pay to enter.

Cash Machine is available inside the ‘baglio’, market square, in the far right-hand corner.
Medical Centre is located on the left hand side of the ‘baglio’ and on a small side street next to the Torre Bennistra Hotel. Follow the directions ‘Medico’. The centre is open in the summer months until 20.00 in the evening.
